Is volunteering FIRST right for you? Take a look at this introductory slideshow. We believe there's a role for just about everybody!
If the answer is, "Yes! I want to volunteer!" Here are your next steps which help us ensure our youth safety:
- Submit a Background Check
- Complete Training Modules, Read the Guides, and View 2 Short Videos
- Submit Machine Mavericks Mentor Form to Lead Coach
- Sign up for a FIRST Mentor Account (optional; mostly meant for events and networking)
Background Check
Pass the Youth Protection Program (YPP) Police Record Check.
You must pass this step if you are over the age of majority. It takes about 1 or 2 days and then an email will be sent to you indicating you passed. Step-by-step guide: https://vimeo.com/35696334 Please forward this email to one of the lead coaches or the mentor in charge of on-boarding mentors.

FIRST volunteers play a significant role in the success of the organization while demonstrating the importance of Gracious Professionalism at all times:

- Refrain from public criticism of participants or other Volunteers, use of profane, insulting, harassing, or otherwise offensive language while volunteering.
- Abstain from and discourage the use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products in conjunction with the FIRST event
