2021-2022 Season
During COVID-19, Machine Mavericks will be following local health guidelines for meetings. In-person attendance is allowed at this time following COVID-19 protocols. At this time, FIRST Canada is anticipating in-person competitions during the competition season of March to April, 2022. Health guidelines, competitions, and competition goals are subject to change with pandemic needs.

Cost
Annual fees to participate are $250. (Bursaries are available.) There are extra room, board and travel costs for attending competitions. Students must obtain steel-toe safety footwear to attend meetings at the workshop.
Parent Involvement
The Machine Mavericks is 100% volunteer organized and run. We NEED parent involvement. Please speak with us about what kind of volunteering you can offer.
Communication
Our team uses SLACK to stay in touch about team meetings, workshop ideas, and announcements. We invite team members, their parents and our mentors to follow along.
Meetings
Mavericks meets 2 times per week in off-season and almost daily during build season. The more students participate, the more opportunities they have to learn. We meet at 178 Railway St.
Season Timeline
Off-Season:
September to December AND May to September. During this time, students learn the basics about the competition, gain skills and training in computer programming and machining, and master business and outreach skills.
Build Season:
January to February. During this time, students design, build and test a robot and attend competitions.
District Events:
March to April. Teams attend from 2-4 district qualifying or community events where they get to compete and learn with other teams. These events are usually 2-3 days long ranging from Thurs. to Sunday.
Championships:
If our team does well, we're off to Provincial Championships!! If our team does well at Provincials, we're off to World Championships in Detroit, MI.
